Halò! Ciamar a tha sibh? Is mise Steaphan Uallas (Stephen Wallace). I am originally from America, but now live in the UK. I’ve wanted to learn Gaelic for many years now, but have only recently begun to look into it seriously. I've had little books, tapes and now apps on my iPhone to help me learn phrases, but until now I've not really dedicated the time and effort to truly learn it. I am considering Sabhal Mòr Ostaig’s Distance Learning course: An Cùrsa Inntrigidh, and I'm hoping that I can immerse myself more in it. I listen to BBC Radio nan Gaidheal on my headphones at work, and An Litir Bheag in my car.

Anyway, glad to meet everyone, and Thanks for having me!

I would listen to the radio a lot too, it helps to get used to the sounds, and bit by bit you will understand what they're talking about

I have been occasionally practicing my Gaelic over the past few years, but more recently I've been listening to the Speaking Our Language series on my way to and from work every day. This helps a lot! I am understanding more each day, and it's becoming easier to recognize words, phrases, and sentence structure. I'm happy with it.

I was just looking at SMO distance courses as well today. I'm thinking about enroling in An Cùrsa Inntrigidh. Has anyone here done An Cùrsa Inntrigidh?

Thanks, GunChleoc! I'm definitely going to look into the beginner course! I think I need to step it up a bit. Listening to Speaking Our Language every day, and Radio nan Gàidheal occasionally, has really helped. It's fantastic being able to pick up words and phrases in Radio nan Gàidheal!
